Wine Trade and Tourism Minor

The Wine Trade and Tourism Minor will prepare students for employment in many areas of the wine industry including tourism, tasting room and wine event management, hospitality services, wine retailing, distribution and import/export, wine sales and marketing. The Minor is an interdisciplinary offering between Continuing Education, Recreation and Tourism and Marketing Education. The Wine Trade and tourism Minor includes the Wine Trade Professional Certificate. Students must be fully matriculated at cwu in order to enroll in the minor.

Required Courses

RT 402 - Wine Basics, 4 credits
RT 403 - The Global World of Wine, 4 credits
RT 404 - The Wine Trade, 4 credits
RT 406 - Professional Wine Analysis, 3 credits
ME 330 - Principles of Retailing, 4 credits
ME 467 Retail Management, 4 credits OR ME 486 Retailing and E-commerce, 4 credits

RT 490 - Internship, 6 credits

Choose three of the following courses with advisement:
RT 271 - Introduction to Tourism 3 credits
RT 405/505 level - Hospitality Catering - 3 credits, online course
RT 373D - Convention management - 5 credits
RT 373E- Resort Management -5
RT 471 - Tourism Planning and Development - 3
RT 480 - Administration in Tourism -3

Total credits: 38-40
